Hirsch Vineyards in Food & Wine Magazine


Hirsch Vineyards was recently featured in an article in Food & Wine Magazine by writer Ray Isle. The article, titled 10 Reasons to Take a California Wine Trip Along the San Andreas Fault Line, explores the distinctive character of some of California’s best wines at stops along a destructive fault line, including our vineyard in Cazadero.

Winemaker Jasmine Hirsch was interviewed as part of this article, and had this to say about the influence the San Andreas Fault has had on our site:

The land here is folded. It’s like if you spread out a thick blanket on the floor and mushed it all together. Nothing’s flat. We have every single aspect, every single exposure. And where the fog gets to, and where it doesn’t, and the reason we get so much rain here, that’s all tied to the topography. And the topography was produced by the seismic activity of the fault.

Our San Andreas Fault Estate Pinot Noir is our flagship wine. David Hirsch named it this because he has always said our vineyard was defined by the fault. It is our entire vineyard in a glass.

Our 2022 San Andreas Fault Estate Pinot Noir is currently available for purchase on our online store, along with a selection of a few other wines. This wine is also currently featured at our Healdsburg tasting room, and reservations to taste or purchase can be made here.
